Customer Review: PERFECT FOR MY GUITAR
I own a Martin D-15 acoustic guitar (the all-mahogany dreadnought) and found that with the medium strings (the 13-56) I was getting AMAZING volume and tone but that they were exerting a bit too much tension on my guitar. It was a very tricky guitar to set up, and I didn’t want to fool with it any more. I switched to the light gauge (the 12s) and found that I lost too much volume and tone and that they weren’t exerting ENOUGH tension on the the guitar–the strings were “bottoming out” and rattling against the fingerboard. I despaired of getting my guitar set up the right way, (didn’t want to spend the extra moolah for ANOTHER set-up) but then I found out about the “light/medium” gauge, which i believe goes from .0125 for the high “E” to .055 for the low “E.” I ordered, they arrived, and they are PERFECT for me. They exert exactly the right amount of pull on my guitar (the tension is midway bewteen the lights and the mediums) and the tone and volume are FANTASTIC. These stings are bright, even, and somewhat chimey-sounding on my guitar, and nicely LOUD.

With this gauge, you get the booming, bluegrassy bottom (although nicely balanced overall) but with a bit more “play” in the strings–therefore, lead runs are a bit easier, less “stiff,” especially high up on the neck. I would recommend them to anyone who finds mediums too stiff and lights too quiet. The best of both worlds. They are, it seems, easier to find on-line than in stores. Not many people are hip to these strings, but it is well worth seeking them out.

Of course, they are Martin strings, and people either like the sound of Martin strings or they don’t. If you dig Elixirs (and I DO NOT) then these aren’t for you. The treble strings (bronzed in the SP sets) have a very nice tone, slightly mellower and at the same time louder (less sharp and trebly/shrill) than the plain steel strings of the other Martin sets.

And they last. Two weeks so far, and they sound as good as when I put ‘em on.

As far as I am concerned, these strings are the best I’ve used, and without question would sound GREAT on a Martin guitar, or any dreadnought for that matter.

Customer Review: Nice platforn to start from
I bought this for my six year old daughter, knowing that it was probably a decent guitar body with cheap hardware ( and knowing a little about tweaking guitars helped too ) i got this this for cheap. the reviews are pretty much right on, it has trouble staying in tune and for the last few weeks has been lying in the corner, silent. It sounded really muted and cruddy, like it had tissues stuffed inside of it. Well, I knew eventually i would get around to seeing what can be done for very little money to make this thing sound better. First thing i did was to swap out the tuners with the lowest cost gotoh I could get online, (pretty decent tuner for seventeen bucks) and got rid of the loose floppy apperatus that was supposed to be doing the job of holding the strings in tune. I did have to drill out the pegholes to enlarge them a fraction of an inch, for the new tuners to fit, spacing was the same but the new pegs were a tad fatter. just a little, used a hand drill and a 3/8 bit. I also swapped out the el cheapo factory strings with some already broken in d’addario’s from my yamaha classical. While i had it torn down, remedied the high action with a saddle sanding and a little filing on the zero fret. Yep, it has a zero fret, not a prob. After getting the action where i thought best i tuned it up and i must say it sounds like a completlely different instrument that it did before. Buy it and use the net to learn how to set it up right. Sounds pretty awesome now.
Customer Review: Not bad but hard to keep in tune
I thought that this would be a good guitar for someone I know who has small hands. It isn’t bad in general, but we have had one problem with it. It refuses to stay in tune long enough to play more than one song. And the tuning pins seems to slip a little. It must be tuned so frequently that this has become rather frustrating. Perhaps it just needs more time for the strings to settle in, but my other guitars are not this difficult to keep in tune. If you can deal with the tuning problem, I guess it would be a good beginner’s guitar. For what I paid for it, I guess you can’t complain. I suppose you could say that it’s good for a beginner to have to do frequent tuning and that way he learns very quickly the notes of each open string! Just be aware that if you would be frustrated by frequent tuning, this one may not be for you.

Its just amazingly perfect for playing at home!!

It includes everything. And I mean everything that you might need. Its not even mentioned in the product description that a headset is also included! Which is totally what I needed as I play it for hours and hours and I should not be disturbing others. Amp is cool, its loud enough for home use. It has Bass and Treble effects as well which is very cool. A guitar stand is also included which makes it easy to keep the guitar when not in use.

About the guitar itself, it needed a bit of tuning when I took it out of the box, but that was again very easy with the chromatic tuner provided. After that tuning its just been sounding inch perfect!

Everyone around me is in love with this guitar. Trust me it won’t let you down. A fender is always a good choice! Specially if it comes with all the accessories for a really great price!

Customer Review: Great guitar for the price
I recently got this Starcaster Strat pack and am impressed with the quality of the instrument given the price. There’s a ton of cheap beginner guitar packs available now, and I’ve tried several of them in stores and eventually settled on the Starcaster as the best value. None of the cheaper models had the same quality of hardware, the same playability or sounded near as good. Mine came well setup out of the box with only some tuning required. The intonation on mine was even setup correctly. It isn’t up to the quality of a real Stratocaster, but it really isn’t too far off the quality of a Fender Squire strat. The amp that comes with it is fine for starting out, but it is pretty underpowered, and most players would soon want to step up. That’s really the only complaint, and in a starter electric guitar pack, an underpowered little amp is par for the course. The five stars I’m giving it here is relative to other instruments in this price range, and at that standard I don’t think you can do better than this.

Customer Review: Hannah Montana Washburn 3/4 size guitar
I’ve been playing guitar for 30 years, and I’m very impressed with this guitar! The neck is very similar to my San Dimas Charvel (no kidding!) in that it’s very slim and low profile. Perfect for little hands. My daughter is 7 and she loves this guitar. I plugged it in to my Marshall Vintage Modern and was amazed at the pro sounds I was able to coax out of it. The pickups are wired so that when the switch is in the middle, the pickups are out of phase and it sounds like a wah wah pedal cracked half-way open a-la Michael Schenker. The pickups do not sound like single coils although they appear to be. I replaced the tuning keys with some grovers, but other than that, this thing rocks. I might even buy one for me!

Customer Review: Will keep your guitar out of trouble
I purchased two of these to hold my 6 and 12 string acoustic guitars and they are doing exactly as they are meant to. They are both set on soft carpet and still are very sturdy. Often I plop my guitars into them (as opposed to setting them down nicely) and they don’t budge. They seem cheap, but they hold their own…as well as my guitars (insert laughs here)

Customer Review: Rattling sound
The lower strings create a rattling sound as you strike them. I’ve never experienced this before with other strings. So I thought these strings are perhaps too soft and hit the frets, but that’s clearly not the case. A musician friend of mine confirmed the same impression. I have to conclude it’s the strings that are rattling. I’m disappointed.
